Scope of Processes (Business Rules and Synchronous Classic Workflows) in Microsoft Dynamics 365

There are several different ways of automating your Microsoft Dynamics 365 - which save time and make life easier for your users.

Two of these, both of which are topics in the PL-200 Microsoft Power Platform Functional Consultant exam, are Business Rules and Synchronous (Real time) Classic Workflows.  Both Business Rules and Synchronous Workflows have 'scope', but the scope of these two pieces of functionality are significantly different.

Business Rules have form based scope, so cannot be restricted to particular users other than by restricting the form(s).  Classic Workflows (synchronous and asynchronous - or background workflows) have user based scope.  The scope, or availability of the workflow process is controlled by the relationship between the owner of the workflow and the user doing the action that triggers the workflow.

This vlog is one of a series of short recordings and articles that I am creating as I write a flexible training course for Microsoft's PL-200 Microsoft Power Platform Functional Consultant exam.
